Online slots MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte yesterday outlined the different initiatives taken by the local government to promote the welfare and protection of the more than 1.1 million children in the city.
In her fifth state of the city’s children report, delivered in time with the commemoration of World Children’s Day, the mayor underscored the ongoing challenges faced by the youth across the nation.
Among the issues she tackled were the cases of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, and violence against women and children as well as children in conflict with the law.
She also cited concerns regarding the rising HIV cases among the youth, as well as mental health and child labor issues.
According to Belmonte, the city has allocated P4.3 billion this year for different programs and projects for the youth.
These include the establishment of additional daycare centers and the passage lady luck casino online of various policies for the youth, such as the amendment to the city’s children’s code.
Belmonte also said the city will strengthen its unified referral system – which is used to report, monitor and track gender-based violence – to incorporate data from other agencies, including the barangays, police and social services department, among others.
“Through this, we expect to have a clearer and more complete data on the situation of children in our city,” she said in Filipino.
“We have come a long way, but it is still a long way to go… Every program that we implement is a step towards our goal of a child-friendly Quezon City,” she added.
Earlier that day, Belmonte joined the United Nations Children’s Fund in commemorating this year’s World Children’s Day, which focused on climate action.
“The youth are our most active force in nation-building, and we must maximize their skills and talents to secure the success of our climate change initiatives,” Belmonte said during the event, which was also attended by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte.
